Set me free from my sins, O Lord

*Set me free from my sins, O Lord.*

_Friday in the first week of Lent:

The dominant theme of today’s Readings is Sin and Reconciliation._

*_We remember the Parable of the Prodigal Son. The younger son turned from his wicked life style and returned home. “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as you would treat one of your hired workers.” (Luke 15: 18)._*

_What did the other son, the “just son” do? “He said to his father in reply, ‘Look, all these years I served you and not once did I disobey your orders; yet you never gave me even a young goat to feast on with my friends. But when your son returns who swallowed up your property with prostitutes, for him you slaughter the fattened calf.” (Luke 15: 29 – 30)._

*_The first born and “just son” has turned away from righteousness to think evil in his heart. “When righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and start doing sinful things, they will die for it. Yes, they will die because of their sinful deeds.” (Ezekiel 18: 26 NLT)._*

_”As I live, says the Lord, I do not desire the death of the sinner, but rather that he turn back and live.” (Ezekiel 33: 11).
