Sin, Eternal Life & The Fact Of Hell

Sin, Eternal Life & The Fact Of Hell

The fact of hell begins at the 1 minute and 53 second mark.
Our Lord warns us that we will be separated from him if not helpers in their serious needs of the poor and little ones who are his brothers. 628 To die in mortal sin without repentance and without having to accept God’s merciful love means remaining separated from him forever by our own free choice. And it is this state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed, which is designated with the word ‘hell’.

1034 Jesus repeatedly speaks of “Gehenna”, the “unquenchable fire”, 629 which is reserved for those who until the end of life, refuses to believe and convert, and where they can destroy both soul and body. 630 Jesus proclaims in words severe: “The Son of Man will send his angels, who […] collect all the workers of iniquity and lay them in the fiery furnace” (Mt 13,41-42), and he pronounces the sentence: ‘Street, away from me, cursed, into everlasting fire”.
(Mt 25.41).

1035 The Church in her teaching affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. The souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin, after the death immediately descended to the underworld, where the pains of hell suffer, “the eternal fire.” 631 Main punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in which only men can have life and happiness for which it was created, and which aspires.

1036 Statements of Sacred Scripture and the teachings of the Church concerning the hell is an appeal to the responsibility with which man must use his freedom in view of his eternal destiny. Constitute at the same time an urgent call to conversion: “Enter the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and wide the path that leads to destruction, and many are those who come to it, how close is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and how few are those who find”.
(Matthew 7:13-14).

“Because we do not know neither the day nor the hour, we must, as we advise the Lord who watches closely, so that, over the only course of our earthly life, we deserve him to enter the marriage feast and be numbered among the blessed nor is there a command, as a wicked and lazy servants, to go to everlasting fire, into outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

1037 God does not predestined anyone to go to hell; 633 this is the result of a voluntary aversion to God (a mortal sin), which persists to the end. In the Eucharistic liturgy and daily prayers of the faithful, the Church implores the mercy of God, who does not want “that any perish, but everyone has a way to repent” (2 Pet 3:9): ‘Accept with kindness, O Lord the offer that you present us your ministers and your entire family, have your peace in our days, save us from eternal damnation, and welcome in the flock of the elect.”
