Prayer for the sick

Heavenly Father, You are the Lord who heals us, as You have said: “I am the Lord, your healer.” (Exodus 15:26)
Look with mercy on your servant who is sick and suffering. Stretch out Your hand, for “He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from destruction.” (Psalm 107:20)

Lord Jesus, during Your earthly life You “went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil” (Acts 10:38), and You said to Jairus, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” (Luke 8:50) In that same faith, we place this sick person before You. Speak Your word of healing, calm every fear, and let Your peace guard their heart and mind.

Holy Spirit, Comforter, give strength in weakness and hope in weariness. “The Lord upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down.” (Psalm 145:14) Renew trust that “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Merciful God, forgive sins, heal diseases, and surround this sick person and their family with love and patience, for You “forgive all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases.” (Psalm 103:3) Whether through recovery, through the care of doctors, or through the grace to carry the cross, let Your will be done and Your Name be glorified.

Mary, Health of the Sick, and all you saints who suffered with faith, pray for us and accompany all who are ill into the Heart of Jesus. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
