Prayer of Sorrow for All Sins

O my God,

with a humble and contrite heart,

I come before You in sorrow.

I am truly sorry for all my sins—

for the times I have failed to love You

with my whole heart,

and to love others as You have commanded.

I grieve for every wrong thought,

every careless word,

and every sinful action.

I am sorry for the good I have failed to do,

and for the moments I turned away from Your grace.

Lord, my sins have wounded Your loving Heart,

and for this, I am deeply sorry.

Not only because I fear the loss of heaven,

but because I have offended You,

who are all good and deserving of all my love.

Wash me clean, O Lord,

and renew a right spirit within me.

Give me the strength to turn away from sin

and to walk in the path of righteousness.

Help me to avoid whatever leads me to sin,

and to choose what is good, holy, and pleasing to You.

O merciful Father,

through the passion of Your Son, Jesus Christ,

have mercy on me and forgive me.

I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace,

to confess my sins,

to do penance,

and to amend my life.

O my Jesus,

have mercy on me, a sinner.
