HOLY SPIRIT GOD WHO DWELL WITHIN MY HEART
_________________________
We have now learned two or three important things. Firstly, Holy Spirit is a person. Although,fire-water_dove etc. are symbols of Holy Spirit like the Father and the Son, Holy Spirit is a person. Soul of every Christian is conceived by the Spirit like a baby is conceived in the womb of a pregnant woman. Another person in our soul! Secondly, what is the greatest gift that God has given us? It is God. Especially in the Holy Eucharist, we receive not only grace but also the giver of grace. Third, we understand that our relationship with God is a covenant relationship .It is like a relationship between husband and wife . It is a covenant. That is, I give my life to my wife and she gives me her life. Thus our two lives are merged. Merged in Christ. It cannot be separated . No matter what, relationship between God and man is impossible to separate. It is a marriage. It is a covenant relationship -a fellowship. This is not something that is going to happen in our life. This is our current state of our life . This retreat is to understand depth of that fellowship.
Let’s pray to the Holy Spirit by singing “Holy spirit Holy Spirit God who dwell within my heart”. Years ago ,Holy Spirit inspired me to write this song when I experienced the working of the Spirit in my life and I realized that Holy Spirit dwells in me. I realized Holy Spirit is speaking in me, setting my life on fire. There on, my prayers changed. I started praying and worshipping the Spirit who dwells within me . In those days, there were no songs that meant Holy Spirit dwells in me. “Holy spirit Holy Spirit God who dwell within my heart”. God who dwells within my heart. See, It is very personal. The whole song is a prayer about the Holy Spirit dwells in us.
Jesus said “Whoever believes in me, as scripture says: ‘Rivers of living water will flow from within him.” Also, in the letter to the Romans it says. “… the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us.” This is the next line of this song and this is the next step.
“ Fill me with your living water set my life on fire”. Let me give you an example. I came to your home. You welcomed me and make me a cup of tea with milk and 3 spoons of sugar . But when I drank it wasn’t sweet . What was the reason? Although, you put 3 spoons of sugar it wasn’t stirred. That was the reason. This is the case with most Christians. We have received Holy Spirit through the Sacraments. The Holy Trinity is in us. In other words, we received everything. But it needs to be stirred. It needs to be stirred and it will taste sweet every day.
