Many of us look up to an individual or hold someone in high esteem. We admire them because they possesses the strength or capabilities we desire to have in ourselves. We desire to be like them. Following or acting like them may make us look cool, worthy and accepted by others. It may even give us a sense of belonging or identity.

This is also why many people fall prey to scams, cheated by leaders and hurt by people we taught will never hurt us. I have seen many churchgoers worshipping their pastors and subordinates controlled by their bosses.

I am thankful to God for the godly leaders and pastors He has put in my life. They have been such a blessing. They gave me support, prayers and directions in my life and I really appreciate it. However, without being aware, we allow them to replace God in our lives…
