“Just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me” (Mt 25:40)

We all know the story of St. Maximilian Kolbe a Polish Franciscan priest who took the place of a young father to die. In 1941 end of July Kolbe was arrested as the superior of a religious houseby the Gestapo and imprisoned at Auschwitz. Within two weeks a prisoner escaped and as retaliation 10 random prisoners were chosen to die by starvation. One of the 10 was a young father who wanted to go back home. Inspired by the love of Christ, Kolbe volunteered and on the 14thof August 1941 he died of starvation.
