The Forest Queen

I saw her once, the sweetest face

That God through nature could create

So lovely and so kind I state

She thrilled the landscape with her grace

The clouds supplied her crown of lace

I’d see the forest queen each night

And talk with her, with such delight

And often she would state her name

Which never twice would be the same

For that was her accursed plight.
