Wednesday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time/ Dedication of the Basilica of St. Mary Major/ August 05, 2020

Gospel: Matthew 15:21-28

Friends, our Gospel today, presents a ‘Canaanite woman’ of great faith! She was tried to push away by the disciples of Jesus for she was not belong to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as Jesus told her, that “He was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel,” the woman by the Jewish Law do not belong! But, her persistence of calling out the Lord to help her daughter who was possessed by a demon, and for showing Jesus her ‘great faith’ (Please Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters), moved Jesus to cure her daughter!
