Gospel: Matthew 17:14-20
Friends, in today’s Gospel Jesus, cured an epileptic boy possessed by a demon who was suffering severely, as often he falls into the fire, and in water. He cured him and cast the demon out of his body after the apostles could not drive it out.”
In this episode, Jesus may be feeling disappointed about the apostles ‘lack of faith!’ For they were not able to cast the demon out of the boy’s body. They were powerless and cannot do anything, as the father described to Jesus what happened, “I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Faith is always necessary not only in this situation but in all situations of our lives.
