Teach me young, and teach me well
Give me something, to hold forever
To never abandon
And give to those,
Who will come after.

The child ingests a spectrum of lessons
Mother caresses with ancient tales
Gran thrills with lifelong adventures
And aunts warn with bedtime scares
All the rebukes endured
And rewards enjoyed
A Prick or Treat
And culture
Instilled
Taught
The elders teach many things.
They soothe upon a lap,
Or punish on the bum,
And the young soul takes notes.
An adult perfects what need be perfected,
But holds a mother’s way most sacred;
Traditions kept alive,
Always listening to their inner child.
Christmas
Each one, teach one
Share skills, ask a question
Many cooks, yet better dishes
Bonded

The inner child learns best and learns true,
They know the secrets of happiness.
