Boasting of self leads to downfall and destruction. Boasting is defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as “a statement expressing excessive pride in oneself”. This boasting is self-seeking. It takes great pride in what the self can do and accomplish. It takes all the credit to self. Its confidence is drawn entirely from his own knowledge and ability. This boasting never pleases God. For we are not on our own. We are not self-sufficient that we can do all things and we know all things. We are just creatures beautifully made by the sovereign, loving, and wise God. So it is God who deserves to be honored, glorified, and praised! We owe it to God to return the credit to Him because it belongs to Him alone.
