THE REVELATION
SECOND SECRET OF FATIMA
During the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in 1917, the Blessed Virgin entrusted three secrets to the shepherd children — Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta. The Second Secret of Fatima was both a warning and a message of hope for the world.
A WARNING AND A CALL TO CONVERSION
After showing the children a terrifying vision of hell, Our Lady spoke about God’s desire to save souls through devotion to her Immaculate Heart. She said that many souls go to hell because there are few who pray and make sacrifices for them.
PROPHECY OF FUTURE EVENTS
Our Lady foretold that World War I would soon end, but warned that if people did not stop offending God, a worse war would begin during the reign of Pope Pius XI. She also spoke about the spread of errors from Russia throughout the world, bringing wars, persecution of the Church, and suffering for the Holy Father.
OUR LADY’S REQUEST
To prevent these tragedies, Our Lady requested the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and the practice of the First Saturday Devotion. She promised that if her requests were heeded, Russia would be converted and peace would be granted to the world.
A MESSAGE OF HOPE
Despite the darkness of the prophecy, the Second Secret of Fatima ends with a message of hope:
“In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.”
The message of Fatima continues to call all people to prayer, repentance, conversion, and trust in God through the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
“Pray the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war.” — Our Lady of Fatima
