“ദൈവശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരുടെ ഗുരുനാഥ” (Mistress of Theologians) എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന വിശുദ്ധയായിരുന്നു ഫൊളീഞ്ഞോയിലെ വിശുദ്ധ ആഞ്ജല. നിരന്തരമായ പ്രാർത്ഥനയ്ക്കും ദിവ്യകാരുണ്യ ആരാധനയ്ക്കും പുറമേ ജീവകാരുണ്യപ്രവർത്തികളിലും പരിത്യാഗത്തിലും ജീവിച്ച വിശുദ്ധക്ക് അതീന്ദ്രിയ ദൈവീകാനുഭവങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. അവളുടെ ആത്മീയരചനകളിൽനിന്ന് മഹത്തായ ദൈവികദർശ്ശനങ്ങളും ആത്മീയാനുഭവങ്ങളും തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞവർ അവളിൽ ഒരു മാർഗ്ഗദർശ്ശിയെയും വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ യഥാർത്ഥ ഗുരുവിനെയും കണ്ടു.
