കാവൽ മാലാഖമാരോട് സംസാരിക്കാറുണ്ടോ? കുർബ്ബാനക്ക് വൈകിയാൽ നമ്മുടെ നിയോഗങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ച് അവരെ നേരത്തെ പള്ളിയിലേക്ക് പറഞ്ഞയക്കാറുണ്ടോ? മക്കളെ നന്നായി സൂക്ഷിക്കാൻ അവരുടെ കാവൽമാലാഖമാരോട് പ്രത്യേകം പറയാനുള്ള പോലുള്ള ടാസ്ക് ഒക്കെ നമ്മുടെ കാവൽമാലാഖമാർക്ക് കൊടുക്കാറുണ്ടോ? ഇതൊക്കെ ചെയ്യാം ട്ടോ… അവർ നമ്മുടെ പ്രത്യേക മധ്യസ്ഥർ അല്ലേ..നമ്മൾ പാപം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ വിഷമിക്കുന്ന അവരോട് ദയ കാണിക്കാം. നന്മയിലേക്ക് നടക്കാൻ അവരുടെ സഹായവും ചോദിക്കാം… പാദ്രെ പിയോ, ജെമ്മ ഗൽഗാനി തുടങ്ങിയ വിശുദ്ധരൊക്കെ കാവൽമാലാഖമാരെ കൂടെക്കൂടെ കാണുകയും സംസാരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

” so sublime is the dignity of the soul that from it’s birth there is appointed to each one a Guardian Spirit”.

( St. Jerome).

The role of this guardian Spirit as is evident in Catholic Theology is to enlighten, protect, guide and pray for the person entrusted to his care. As a messenger of God’s will, he enlightens by inspiring thus disposing the mind to receive the truths of faith. As an instrument of God’s goodness he protects us from the dangers of all evil- mainly from the evil of sin and the malice of the devil, but also from physical evil insofar as this is useful or necessary to guard the soul from spiritual harm. He guides us in our choice of vocation, lifting and strengthening us at every fall, constantly pointing the way to attain paradise. Finally as our companion and protector throughout our earthly pilgrimage, our guardian angel carries our prayer to the throne of God, uniting it with his own, during life and at the moment if death.

In 1670, Pope Clement X set 2nd October as the Feast day of Guardian Angels.

“Revere your guardian Angel ! Be grateful for the care he bestows upon you. Have confidence in him love him and turn to him to entreat his protection in every difficulty, danger and temptation ! ( St Bernard)
