They were only children.
Three poor shepherd children from a small village in Portugal.
Francisco.
Jacinta.
Lúcia.
No one would have imagined that Heaven would choose them to carry one of the most important messages of the modern world.
In 1917, while tending sheep near Fatima, the three children began seeing a beautiful Lady “brighter than the sun.”
She appeared to them month after month from May to October.
And her message was urgent.
Pray the Rosary.
Do penance.
Repent.
Pray for sinners.
Pray for peace.
At first, nobody believed them.
They were mocked.
Threatened.
Interrogated.
Even imprisoned by local authorities who tried to force them to deny what they had seen.
But the children never changed their story.
Not once.
Even under pressure, fear, and suffering, they remained faithful to the truth.
Each child responded differently to Our Lady’s message.
Francisco loved silent prayer and adoration. He wanted to “console God” through hidden sacrifice and prayer. Though quiet and gentle, he possessed deep holiness beyond his years.
Jacinta, the youngest, was filled with compassion for sinners. After seeing the vision of hell shown by Our Lady, she offered countless sacrifices for the conversion of souls. Though only a child, she endured terrible sickness and suffering with extraordinary love for Jesus and Mary.
Lúcia, the oldest, was chosen to remain longer on earth. While her cousins died young, she became a religious sister and spent decades spreading devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and preserving the message of Fatima for the world.
Then came October 13, 1917.
More than 70,000 people gathered at Fatima.
And there, beneath stormy skies, many witnessed what became known as the “Miracle of the Sun.”
The sun appeared to dance, spin, and plunge through the sky before returning to its place.
The crowd stood in awe.
The children had spoken the truth.
Today, over a century later, the message of Fatima still echoes through the world:
Pray.
Repent.
Trust God.
Return to Him before it is too late.
Three children.
One message from Heaven.
A call that still speaks to every soul today.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.
Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto, pray for us.
Sister Lúcia, pray for us. ![]()
