NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP

Day 3 – Mother Who Shares Our Sorrows

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We thank and praise You for the gift of Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, whom You have given to us as a loving Mother and faithful guide. Through her constant intercession, may we find strength in times of trial, comfort in moments of sorrow, and hope amid life’s struggles.

As we continue this novena, open our hearts to understand the mystery of Christ’s suffering and the loving participation of Mary in His redemptive mission. Teach us to carry our crosses with faith and trust, knowing that You are always with us.

Meditation

Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Your sacred icon beautifully portrays you holding the Child Jesus while the archangels present the instruments of His future Passion. Even as you gazed upon your Son with tender love, your heart foresaw the suffering He would endure for the salvation of the world.

No one understood the pain of Christ more deeply than you. You stood faithfully beside Him throughout His life and remained at the foot of the Cross when many others fled. Your heart was pierced with sorrow, yet you never lost faith in God’s plan.

Because you have shared so deeply in the sufferings of Jesus, you understand our own sorrows, disappointments, fears, and trials. You know the burdens we carry and the wounds hidden within our hearts. As a compassionate Mother, you draw near to comfort us and help us find meaning in our suffering.

Prayer for Strength in Suffering

Loving Mother,

Teach us to unite our sufferings with those of your Son. When we face difficulties, help us not to lose hope. When we experience pain, rejection, illness, loss, or disappointment, remind us that Christ walks beside us and transforms every cross into a path toward grace and salvation.

Obtain for us the strength to carry our daily burdens with patience, courage, and trust. May our trials draw us closer to Jesus and help us grow in holiness and love.

Prayer of Petition

Mother of Perpetual Help,

Take all our needs before your Son and intercede for us today. We especially ask for the grace to offer our sufferings in union with Christ’s Passion for the salvation of souls and the glory of God.

Pray that we may grow in every virtue necessary for holiness—faith, hope, charity, humility, patience, and perseverance. Help us to deepen our relationship with Jesus each day and to trust completely in His loving providence.

May every trial bring us closer to Christ, and may your loving presence remind us that we are never alone.

Through your powerful intercession, lead us safely to the joy of eternal life.
