I have heard some of the debates by Brother Sebastian Punnakkal Philip regarding Islam. First of all it is great to see someone learn deep about Islam and debate it. I too tried to read Quran some years back and had stopped it after reading it about 70% as it was too negative to me and I felt that most of the stories referred to were at most distorted understanding of old testament. So I felt it is waste of time to continue reading it further. Anyway since Islam has got the limelight and is taking the center stage recently with so much misleading images (especially the main stream media painting it as a religion of peace !) which in turn mislead lot of people, educating general public of Islam and its history would be appropriate. When one talk about God the Almighty who has created all the universe (where earth our planet is a tiny dot at most), why cannot he withstand the criticism of humans? I believe that God can surely defend himself by all means and man don’t have to do that on behalf of God. What I am trying to say is that all religions and religious persons are not beyond criticism and critical analysis if it is genuine. There are many instances where debate and arguments are not used to distil truth and get more close to the absolute truth, but to spill malice and cloud the truth more. In such instance, debates like the one by Brother Sebastian based on clear records are great and in the right direction.
What I wanted to point out was different; I happened to hear one analysis about Islam on youtube (16 episodes). ‘The search for Muhammad’

Probably you might have already be aware of it. If you haven’t seen it, you could have a look as it may shed more light on Islam and you could also introduce it to the people of Kerala.
