Life
Saint Giles was a Christian hermit and abbot who lived a life of profound solitude and prayer. According to tradition, he left Greece and eventually settled in southern France, where he lived as a hermit in a forest.
Tradition tells us that a hind or female deer became his companion. When hunters pursued the animal, Giles protected it. The king, impressed by his holiness, eventually offered him land where he established a monastery.
The monastery became known as Saint-Gilles and developed into an important pilgrimage centre.
Virtues
St. Giles teaches us the beauty of solitude, prayer, compassion for creation, and trust in Divine Providence.
He did not seek fame or power. He sought God.

Life
Saint Gregory the Great was born into a wealthy Roman family. He initially entered public life and became prefect of Rome. However, he renounced his worldly position and devoted himself to God.
He became a monk and founded monasteries. Later he was ordained and eventually elected Pope in 590.
As pope, Gregory cared deeply for the poor, strengthened Church discipline, promoted missionary work and sent St. Augustine of Canterbury to evangelize England.
He was also an extraordinary theologian and spiritual writer.

Centuries later, during a plague in Palermo, her relics were discovered. The people invoked her intercession, and the plague reportedly ended.

Saint Michael
Meaning: “Who is like God?”
Michael is presented in Scripture as a powerful heavenly defender.
He is especially associated with the struggle against Satan and the protection of God’s people.
Prayer:
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Saint Gabriel
Meaning: “God is my strength.”
Gabriel is the heavenly messenger who announced to Mary that she would become the Mother of the Messiah.
He therefore stands prominently in the mystery of the Incarnation.
Saint Raphael
Meaning: “God heals.”
Raphael appears in the Book of Tobit as a guide and healer.
He is especially associated with journeys, healing and God’s providential care.

Life
Saint Jerome was one of the greatest biblical scholars of the early Church.
He learned Hebrew and Greek and devoted himself to studying Sacred Scripture.
He produced the Latin translation of the Bible that became known as the Vulgate.
He eventually settled in Bethlehem, where he continued his study, writing and prayer.

“Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.”
Spiritual Lesson
We cannot deeply know Christ without listening to His Word.
