The Puthen Pāna is a Malayalam poem written by German Jesuit missionary priest Johann Ernst Hanxleden, famously known as Arnos Pathiri in Kerala, India. The poem describes the life of Jesus Christ. The Pāna is made up of 14 padam (പാദം); Pādam 12 describes the lament of the Virgin Mother (ദൈവമാതാവിന്റെ വ്യാകുല പ്രലാപം) at the time of the Crucifixion. The English translation of the Puthen Pāna, Pādam 12 was done by Rev. Fr. Joby Joseph of the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Chicago. The team behind this project is:
