Eco-Friendly Christmas Ideas

The lead up to Christmas is always my favourite time of year, and having spent time researching and developing new eco-friendly habits, I’m hoping to extend that to Christmas time too. Every year the UK creates 30% more waste than usual during the festive period. The majority of this waste goes to landfill, contributing to methane and greenhouse gas emissions, ultimately resulting in worldwide temperature increase. Not particularly festive. Not only is it packaging and actual gifts going to waste, the amount of food and drink that is thrown away is staggering, 1315 tonnes of unwanted turkey and 375 tonnes of uneaten mince pies! While going zero waste this Christmas is not impossible (and if you’re interested here is a how to) it is perhaps unrealistic to expect everyone to quit cold turkey and do so.
