Tomorrow is the 4th Sunday in Advent and the holy Apostle encourages us to “rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice, because the Lord is near!” (Phil.4,4-5b). The Old Testament lesson takes us a long way back – reminding us that this joy in the Lord is not a new thing or something only to start somewhere far off in the future, but has accompanied His people from the beginning.

The Lord appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest time of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing across from him.
