Rev. Fr Mathew Kizhakkemury MCBS

Rev. Fr. Mathew Kizhakkemury was born on 27th July, 1941 at Chamampathal, Kottayam.

He joined MCBS Minor Seminary in June 1960 and made his first profession on 17th May, 1963 and final profession on 17th May, 1966. He studied at Aluva Seminary and was ordained by Cardinal Joseph Parekattil on 17th December, 1970.

He was one of the pioneer MCBS Missionaries to North East. His name is written in the hearts of many believers whom he baptized and confirmed.

Rev. Fr. Mathew Kizhakkemury was called back to Shimoga. He was the founder of St. Antony’s School and hostel at Induvally. Hundreds of orphans, semi orphans and others called him “Appacha”. He was their foster father, who educated them, nurtured and nourished them.

He was the mission superior of Shimoga mission. He founded a school and hostel for the deaf and dump at Manchinahally. He was the parish priest, of Infant Jesus Church, Bhadravathy. He also opened a retreat centre at Machinahally.

He was a shepherd who had the “smell of the sheep”. He was a Provider, hard worker, and a man of vision and mission.
