Romans 4:13,16-18

13 The promise to Abraham and his descendants, that they should inherit the world, did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.
16 That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants– not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham, for he is the father of us all,
17 as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations” –in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.
18 In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations; as he had been told, “So shall your descendants be.”

I found this passage in Isaiah 48:12-16.

Here’s what the passage says:

“Listen to Me, Jacob, Israel whom I called;
I am He, I am the first, I am also the last.
¹³ Assuredly My hand founded the earth,
And My right hand spread out the heavens;
When I call to them, they stand together.
¹⁴ Assemble, all of you, and listen!
Who among them has declared these things?
The Lord loves him; he will carry out His good pleasure against Babylon,
And His arm will be against the Chaldeans.
¹⁵ I, yes I, have spoken; indeed I have called him,
I have brought him, and He will make his ways successful.
¹⁶ Come near to Me, listen to this:
From the beginning I have not spoken in secret,
From the time it took place, I was there.
And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.”
