We, the members of Chetana Family, deeply condole on the sad demise of our founder Director Rev. Fr. Issac Alappat CMI(86), Film Director, Editor, Cameraman, Script writer and author of many books. He died yesterday evening at Amala Hospital. He was suffering from old age for the past few years. His funeral will be held at Christ Monastery Chapel on 6th May at 10 am. His death is a great loss to Chetana and entire media world. He was a pioneer in Kerala in the field of television and Media. While he was teaching at Christ College Irinjalakuda the Visionary of Chetana, Servant of God, Fr. Dr. Canisius CMI, selected and sent him for higher studies in Film and Television technology at Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. It was a radical step by authorities of CMI Devamatha Province and great revolution in the priestly religious life.
CHETANA SOUND STUDIO
After his studies abroad Fr. Issac came back to Kerala and Started Chetana Film and Television Society and later he constructed Chetana Sound studios at Chiyyaram. Due to the architectural speciality( under ground studio, probably the only one in India on those days) Chetana studio became so famous. One of the best in South India. In short, he gave a solid foundation for Chetana communication net work. In 1986 during his visit to Kerala St. John Paul II blessed the foundation stone of Chetana. The Seed, Chetana, which Fr. Issac planted has become today a big tree branched out into seven institutions with International standards. Hundreds of musicians and film personalities used the initial facilities constructed by him at Chetana studio. We gratefully remember his wonderful services to Chetana especially during its foundation and initial growth.
May God give him eternal rest. Let’s extend our sincere prayers to our dear loving Issac achan.
With thankful heart,
Fr. Paul Poovathingal, Chetana fathers and Chetana Family members from all over the world.
