If I Had A Bell

eastelmhurst.a.go.go

All throughout my life I daily heard the bell.

It called us all to order in the morning

Me Cardio exercises served me well

On days when I heard it without warning.

One day they did give us an odd new decree.

The trustworthy bell was no longer to be.

Me life did then take an odd and ugly turn.

In what sad mournful Hell must I someday burn?

5 Habits To Incorporate Before The End Of the Year

New Lune

As the year is ending soon, many people have started talking about their New Year’s resolutions and the goals/plans they have for the upcoming year. Personally, I’ve never done New Year’s resolutions and it’s not really a concept that works for me. I would rather set resolutions and goals that don’t have a time limit than pressure myself to achieve or do something within a time frame.

I love the idea of setting goals because they allow you to improve yourself and evolve into a better person than you were yesterday but mostly importantly, they give you the opportunity to challenge yourself. Those goals can be habits as well! Incorporating certain habits into your everyday life will not only bring positivity & happiness but they might also help you overcome any obstacles.

Alors que l’année se termine bientôt, de nombreuses personnes ont commencé à parler de leurs résolutions du Nouvel…

Social skills taught at preschool

The Skeptic's Kaddish 🇮🇱

The Jerusalem municipality offers a service to selected children at preschools to help them improve their social skills, as I just found out today.

Upon my dropping off our daughter at preschool this morning, the head teacher asked to speak with me and told me that she had selected her as one of seven children to meet twice weekly with a specialist to develop her social skills. She handed me a permission slip, which I will be returning signed to the preschool this afternoon.

We can tell, and the teacher confirmed to me this morning, that our child’s social skills are stronger this year than they were the year before. Still, for all of her innate intelligence, she is often awkward around other children, and there are some likely reasons for this.

First of all, as an only child, our daughter spends a disproportionate amount of time with me and…

The Latter Epistles -Hebrews 9

Thoughts from Mark "Hat" Rackley

Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary. A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand and the table with its consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.
When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself…

Christmas Eve Evening Prayer

St Ternans Banchory

Holy One, make speed to save us:
O God, come quickly to help us.

Glory to God, Source of all being, Eternal Word and Holy Spirit;*
as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

Opening

Thursdays: From Psalm 98, Cantate Domino

Sing a new song to the Lord, who has done marvellous things, *
all the ends of the earth have seen your victory, O God.
Shout with joy to the Lord, all you lands; *

lift up your voice, rejoice and sing.
Sing to the Lord with the harp, * with the harp and the voice of song.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn *
shout with joy before our sovereign, the Lord.
Let the sea make a noise and all that is in it, *
the lands and those who dwell therein.
Let the rivers clap their hands, *
and…

Maybe I Can Find Myself

Mariana Dynasty

Maybe here,
Beaten and defeated by my own flaws,
Maybe here,
Pinned to the ground to the ugly replays,
Maybe… Maybe I can find myself.

Maybe now, lone, solitary…
Maybe like a rhinoceros, I am more blind to what stands near,
Too focused to what’s far when what I seek is just here.
Maybe I care too much, maybe I don’t
Maybe… Maybe I can find myself.

Maybe I can be myself more and overcome my ugly side,
Maybe in this loneliness I can hear my own breath.
Maybe this torture will erase all the evils I’ve done,
Maybe I’ll forget this pitiable self that everyone faults.
Then maybe… Maybe I can find myself.

Or could this be just a skin I have to shed?
It could be a dark cover hiding the light in me,
Or it could be that my thoughts have overcome me.
What more of me…

MINDFULNESS IS ABOUT AWARENESS[MENTAL HEALTH]ARTICLE 1, 2

LONDON IFPPPS LTD FOR PSYCHOTHERAPY CLINICS , INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND INVESTMENT

Article 1

When we are mindful, we pay deliberate attention , in the present moment, to things as they are rather than to how we wish them to be .We broaden our focus beyond our thoughts , to all of of our senses (hearing, seeing, testing, touching , smelling our emotions and our bodily sensations. Instead of ruminating on the past-which we can’t change, or worrying about the future-things that may or may not ever happen, mindfulness can help keep us grounded in the full experience of the here and now.

This is invaluable . It is only in the present moment that we have an immediate choice about how we are going to respond to whatever situation we are in, or to how we are thinking or feeling.

Mindfulness enables us to pause, instead of falling victim to the endlessly looping tape of our thoughts and feelings. When we…

The Baby Jesus Appears in the Arms of St Padre Pio at Midnight Mass

Catholicism Pure & Simple

Padre Pio had a profound humility; he was blessed with extraordinary spiritual gifts, but he always, always considered himself the least of his fellow priests. Padre Pio never asked anything for himself, but he treasured and loved the privilege of offering Midnight Mass. This was a solemn Mass, and the right to offer it usually belonged to the guardian of San Giovanni. But successive guardians, knowing how much offering this Mass meant to Fr. Pio, gave Padre Pio the honour of celebrating it.

It was a long Mass – Padre Pio sometimes finished at five in the morning. But many of the faithful went to great pains to attend it. It was an arduous journey to the friary in the 1920s and 1930s, when the road was a rocky mule path, and in winter it was coated in snow and ice. Before Midnight Mass, Padre Pio waited and greeted those…

Jesus, Son of David

The Victor's Place

BYVANCKB_mimi_74g39_080r_min

Don’t miss this Old Testament reading from the Book of Samuel for the day before Christmas. It says so much about the mystery we celebrate. King David tells the Prophet Nathan that he’s going to build God a kingly palace like his own in place of the tent where the ark of the covenant was being lodged. It’s the right thing to do. Like the grand palace in the picture above.

But God says in reply: “Should you build me a house to dwell in? I took you from the pasture and from the care of the flock to be commander of my people Israel.I have been with you wherever you went.” There is no way you can match God’s love, David is told. The door to a stable is more accessible than the door to a palace. And it will always be open.

“The LORD also reveals to you
