Keys To Increasing In Spiritual Awareness Part 3

MBDevotional

Did you know that the Holy Spirit is standing by to help you with everything from finding a parking space to who you should marry? He is interested in every detail of our lives and is just waiting for us to look to Him.

We are discussing keys to increase our spiritual awareness. The first is to realize and recognize His presence in our daily lives. Second, we must learn to reverence Him.

The Holy Spirit is God just as Jesus is God and our heavenly father is God. The following list provides us with four things that make Him God:

  • He is eternal
  • He is all knowing
  • He is all powerful
  • He is everywhere

We can associate this list with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I would like to take time in this post to establish each of these points.

How much more, then, will the…

Knights of the Holy Eucharist: A community serious about expanding

On God's Payroll

Founded in 1998 by EWTN’s founder, Mother Angelica, this Franciscan order of brothers is working to attract more men to their brotherhood.

December 28, 2020David KilbyThe Dispatch2Print

During a time when genuine religious communal life is being overshadowed by social media and virtual meetings, the Knights of the Holy Eucharist, founded in 1998 by EWTN’s founder, Mother Angelica, are expanding their outreach to attract more men to their brotherhood.

The Franciscan order of brothers hopes toopen a new friaryin the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska, to expand its community. In this age of secularization, however, it’s an uphill battle to find vocations–especially when the concept of religious brother itself is becoming forgotten.

According toCARA, the number of religious brothers in the U.S. has decreased from12,271in 1965 to 3,931 in 2019. It’s a trend similar to just about every possible Catholic statistic, which all point…

Towards a New Counter-Revolution

On God's Payroll

DECLAN LEARY

I was in Boston on the weekendthe Associated Press, and other esteemed arbiters of American democracy (Fox News, CNN, et cetera, et cetera,) preemptively declared Joseph R. Biden, Jr.—nominal son of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and of the Roman Catholic Church—the forty-sixth President of the United States. You’d think the Patriots had just won the Super Bowl. A continuous stream of cars flowed by, honking in celebration. Windows and soft-tops were down, even in the brisk November air, as spontaneous paraders hollered in jubilation. (When I say I was in Boston, I ought to be more specific: this was Newbury Street, the heart of the city’s yuppie district. I doubt the mood was the same in Southie.)

The daylong blare of car horns was annoying to be sure, and the prematurity was at least as grating as it was amusing. But more than anything else, the elation that met…

Go Big By Starting Small

Composing Catholic

It’s the season for resolutions as many of us take the opportunity to round into the new year by establishing goals for ourselves, creating new targets and working toward personal improvement.I read an article inInc.magazine recently which noted that over 80% of us who make such resolutions ultimately fail.According to the author, the reasons include the facts that our resolutions tend to be too non-specific and/or we set goals that are far too lofty.

According to Stanford University behavioral scientist, BJ Fogg, the best way to effect such change is to “go small”, that is to convert bigger goals into smaller habits and to work to incorporate those habits into our daily routines.Fogg describes this inTiny Habits: The Small Changes that Change Everything. The general idea is that you make the task so small that it’s almost impossible not to do it.Then, once it’s part of your…

Mindset by Serge ‘Mage’ Cote

From Mage Mind

I will choose what I really want into my life.

I will take the time to sit down and really think about it.

There’s no other way to reach it. I must know where I’m heading.

Nothing about my life is lucky!

I always get what I should get!

I have to prepare myself!

I have to set my mindset!

I can put my priorities and reach my goals!

I will stop promise what I can’t give!

I will give what I can, when I can!

I will help others right now and do my best!

I will set my priorities and stick to them!

I will do one thing with all my energy!

I have the power to choose!

BEING COMPASSIONATE AND NON-JUDGEMENTAL [MENTAL HEALTH] ARTICLE 1, 2

HEALTHY MIND

Article 1

When Dawn first did exercise above her mind was very judgemental . She had a sense of wanting to resist being in the present moment and, when she did focus momentarily on her hand on her belly, she was taken aback by how crtical her thoughts were. ‘I am overweight , gross ; I need to lose weight . I’m not getting this. Everryone else can do this, but I can’t – I keep being distracted.’

When we are being mindful we open ourselves up to the present moment as it really is , without getting sidetracked by our usual pattern of negative thinking or self-recrimination, or by our tendency to dwell on the past or future. This is not to say that thinking will stop -it won’t . because thinking isv what our minds do.

Instead , mindfulness means that when we do have judgemental thoughrts about…
