മറക്കില്ല എന്നാണ് നാം ഓരോ നിമിഷവും പറയാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്. പഴയ പുസ്തകക്കെട്ടുകൾ അടുക്കിച്ചിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തുമ്പോൾ പലവർണത്താളുകളുള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ പുസ്തകം കണ്ണിൽപ്പെടുന്നു. പത്താം ക്ലാസ് പിരിയുമ്പോൾ വാങ്ങിയ ഓട്ടോഗ്രാഫ് ആണത്. ഓരോ താളിലും മറക്കരുതെന്ന വാക്ക് പല രീതിയിൽ സഹപാഠികൾ അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതുതന്നെയാണ് അവരുടെ ഓർമപ്പുസ്തകത്തിൽ തിരിച്ചെഴുതാൻ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചിരുന്നതും. കാലത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ബിന്ദുവിൽ വച്ച് പല കാരണങ്ങൾകൊണ്ടും ഒറ്റപ്പെടേണ്ടവരാണെന്ന തിരിച്ചറിവിൽ ഭൂതകാലത്തിന്റെ ഈ കൗതുകങ്ങളെ വീണ്ടും പൊടിതട്ടിയെടുക്കുക രസമാണ്. ചിലപ്പോൾ ചിതലരിച്ചോ കൈമോശം വന്നോ ഓർമകളുടെ വർണരേഖകൾ മാഞ്ഞു പോകാം. തുടർവഴികളിൽ ശാരീരികമായി നിശ്ചലരായിപ്പോകുന്നവർക്ക് സ്കൂൾമുറ്റങ്ങളുടെയും ചെറുയാത്രകളുടെയും സൗഹൃദങ്ങളുടെയും ഓർമകളല്ലാതെ മറ്റെന്താണ് കൈമുതലായുള്ളത്? സത്യത്തിൽ വിഷയം ഇതൊന്നുമല്ലെങ്കിൽപ്പോലും യാദൃച്ഛികമായി കൈയിൽ എത്തിച്ചേർന്ന നാലാം വിരലിൽ വിരിയുന്ന മായ എന്ന പുസ്തകം ഓർമകളുടെ വസന്തവും ശിശിരവും കടന്ന് കാലത്തോടൊപ്പം മുന്നേറി വർത്തമാനത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും ശുഭകരമായ നിമിഷത്തിൽ എത്തിനിൽക്കുന്നു. എന്നിട്ടും ആ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ ആവർത്തിക്കുന്ന സ്കൂൾ ഓർമകളും ഓട്ടോഗ്രാഫും ആശുപത്രിക്കാലവും ബന്ധങ്ങളുടെ പരിണാമവും സാമൂഹിക ജീവിതവും ജീവിതാഭിരതിയും തീവ്രമായ ജ്ഞാനാന്വേഷണവും എല്ലാം ഘനീഭവിച്ചുപോയ ഒരു കാലത്തിന്റെ, മറവിയുടെ വാൾത്തലപ്പുകളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു. അദൃശ്യമായി പടരുന്ന വിഷാദശ്രുതി വായനക്കാർ അനുഭവിച്ചേ മതിയാകൂ. റുമാറ്റോയ്ഡ് ആർത്രെറ്റിസ് എന്ന അസുഖത്താൽ പത്താം ക്ലാസിന്റെ പകുതിയിൽ സ്കൂൾമുറ്റത്തോട് വിടപറയേണ്ടി വന്ന മായ രോഗാതുരമായ കാലത്തെ തികച്ചും അതിജീവനബുദ്ധിയോടെയാണ് നേരിട്ടതും ആവിഷ്കരിക്കുന്നതും. ഒരു മുറിക്കുള്ളിലിരുന്നുകൊണ്ട് ലോകത്തെ അറിയുന്നതിന്റെ പരിമിതികളും വേദനകളും സ്വപ്നഭംഗങ്ങളും വിസ്മൃതികളും ഒന്നും കാണാതെ…
